WELCOME TO THE FIRST, AND HOPEFULLY ONLY(!), INDYCAST SIR SEAN CONNERY VOICE-OFF COMPETITION.  WHO CAN BEST NAIL THE SCOTTISH ACCENT OF OUR BELOVED HENRY JONES, SR.?  WELL, AS INDY HIMSELF WOULD SAY:  "THERE'S ONLY ONE WAY TO FIND OUT!"

Congratulations to Lito Velasco for winning the Official IndyCast Sean Connery Voice-Off Competition!  Despite having to close voting early because of a couple of people who tried to play dirty, the contest has been a hit with listeners and was a lot of fun.  And among all the competitors, Lito stood tall!  Nice work!

The rules of the contest:

For round one, each contestant must record and submit an mp3 of their best Sean Connery impression of the following dialogue, from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (click the phrase to hear the soundclip from the film):  "The quest for the grail is not archaeology.  It's a race against evil.  If it is captured by the Nazis, the armies of darkness will march all over the face of the earth.  Do you understand me?"  Then submit your mp3 by emailing it to rob@theindyopinion.com.  Please include your name and general location.  All submissions must be received by Friday, August 21st, 2009.  They will air on the ensuing episode of the IndyCast and then be posted on this site.

Contestants will be voted on in polls.  Each poll will include up to 10 contestants.  If we have 20 entries, for example, there will be 2 polls to vote on with 10 names each, 30 entries would mean 3 polls, etc.  Voters can cast their ballot for the best of each group.  Please don't try to stuff the ballot or skew the voting by casting multiple votes from different computers, let's keep it a fair fight!  Voting will begin on Monday, August 24th for round one and continue through Friday, September 4th.  The winners of each poll in round one, along with the winner from the IndyCast crew competition, will then be announced and will go on to round two.

Round two will require these remaining contestants to record a Sean Connery impression of any (family-friendly) dialogue of their choice from any of his films and submit these by Friday, September 11th.  Again, all these mp3's will be played on the show and posted on the site with a poll for voting.  Voting will close on Friday, October 9th, with the winner announced on the following IndyCast.  As of now, the winner gets bragging rights, and nothing else.  Who knows, that could change...but don't get your hopes up!!

The most important rule of the competition: enjoy it!  This should be a lot of fun!  And make sure you keep track of what's happening by listening to every episode of the IndyCast!
